Detectives are appealing for information after two men were the victims of a serious assault in Erskine at the weekend.
At around 10.50pm on Saturday, the duo were in Bargarran Square when two thugs approached them and lashed out.
The victims, aged 20 and 22, suffered facial cuts and were taken to Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
One of the victims has now been transferred to Canniesburn Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit where he is awaiting surgery to his injury.
Police have been checking CCTV images from in and around the area in a bid to catch the culprits.
Detective Constable John Denholm said: “We are in the process of piecing together the details of this incident and establish a motive for the attack.
"There are a number of shops and business premises in this area and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact us. It’s possible they have information which could assist our enquiries.”
