A RENFREWSHIRE teacher faces being struck off amid allegations he engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with four pupils and even engaged in “sexual activity” with one.

The music teacher, whose name has not been released, will appear before the General Teaching Council for Scotland today where he faces allegations of inappropriate interactions with the four youngsters.

During the 2011/12 school session, the teacher is accused of sending a Facebook friend request to a 17-year-old, and providing the pupil with their personal mobile phone number, before engaging in “communication of a personal and sexual nature”.

The teacher is alleged to have met the pupil, identified only as pupil C, repeatedly out of school hours while the youngster was under the influence of alcohol and took part in sexual activity with the teenager.

It’s reported the teacher then struck up a relationship with the teen after she had left the school between July 2012 and March 2013.

And this isn’t the first time the teacher is alleged to have struck.

Accusations began the previous year, when the educator reportedly sent a 15-year-old pupil a friend request on Facebook and requested her personal mobile number before having inappropriate conversations of a personal and sexual nature.

Again, the teacher is accused of meeting with the pupil while she had been drinking out of school and having inappropriate contact with her, including kissing her while she was drunk.

The teacher is also reported to have failed to inform the school’s guidance team when the youngster came to school while drunk.

Then again during the 2011/12 session the teacher is accused of engaging in inappropriate communication with two sixth year pupils via Facebook and text.

A two-day hearing will begin in the GTCS Edinburgh headquarters today to determine if the educator is allowed to keep their teaching licence.

It’s not known if the individual continued to teach following the alleged incidents at the Renfrewshire school.

A spokeswoman for Renfrewshire Council said: “We took immediate action as soon as we became aware of incidents taking place.

“The employee no longer works for the council.”
