A consultation on the future of Erskine has begun with local residents giving views and comments in advance of a series of public workshops on improving the area.

Erskine Community Sports Centre is hosting a series of workshops every afternoon this week known as a charrette ending with a public exhibition on the community’s ideas and priorities for improvement.

Residents can drop in to the seminars and give their ideas on a number of themes affecting the future of Erskine town centre – including the town centre, parks and greenspace, land and property, and setting priorities.

Then on Saturday February 6, from 1-4pm, the ideas generated during the week will feature in an exhibition.

Councillor Terry Kelly, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Planning and Property Policy Board, said: “There have already been a lot of good ideas put forward online and in person in advance of the Erskine Charrette.

“Now we are looking for people to come along and develop ideas and approaches at the public workshops.

“People in Erskine have a strong sense of community and it will be very interesting to see the approaches they would like to see taken forward.”

All the weekday public workshops to gather public ideas and suggestions start at 1.30pm and are being held in Erskine Community Sports Centre, Kilpatrick Drive, Erskine PA8 7AF. If people can’t stay for the workshops, they are welcome to give suggestions before from 1-1.30pm or from 5-7pm.

Public workshops: Wednesday, February 3 - River, parks and greenspace; Thursday, February 4 - Land and property; Friday, February 5 - Putting it all together – fitting ideas together and deciding priorities; Saturday, February 6 - 1-4pm Public exhibition on the ideas generated during the week.
