A WONDERFUL day was had by all at a special gala day to celebrate Erskine's 100th birthday.

Founded in 1916, Erskine provides nursing and medical care for former members of the armed forces.

To celebrate a century of care, guests enjoyed a superb afternoon of entertainment, food and fairgrounds with a few extra fun surprises along the way.

The event was hosted by Gina McKie and Kevin Giles, and with the support of Erskine Music Media Studio, there was a fantastic lineup for guests to enjoy throughout the day.

Live performances came from the Kennedy Cupcakes, Nicola Cassells, Chloe Johnston, SWAY, David McAdam and more.

Food and drink came courtesy of vendors offering burgers, Korean street food, wood fired pizzas and ice cream.

There was a cycle stunt show, mini golf, classic cars and cinema screenings to get involved in on the grounds of Erskine.

Youngsters could also check out exotic animals, while big kids could enjoy a photobooth and tea party.

A silent disco also kept the party going while a wrecking ball and archery kept revellers suitably entertained.

Included in the mix was a raffle where guests could win prizes such as restaurant vouchers, spa passes, golfing sessions, food hampers and bottles of alcohol.

Overall around 1000 members of staff, residents and guests had a fantastic day at the birthday bonanza.

Next up for Erskine will be an Olympic inspired week of activities from Monday, August 15 which will finish with another Gala Day on Saturday, August 20.

Guests can be delighted with an art exhibition, author extravaganza, senior's tea dance, fun run and movie night on the days coming up to the big gala.

Judith Haw said: "The Gala Day was a resounding success – a great 100th birthday celebration for Erskine.
