YOUNGSTERS paid tribute to tragic Erskine schoolboy Owen MacDonald by taking part in a memorial rugby tournament.

Pupils from Park Mains High, where Owen was a much-loved classmate, were joined by others from Castlehead High, in Paisley, and Johnstone High for the special event.

It took place at Park Mains High, with school staff and guests from Bishopton Rugby Club helping out.

At the end of the tournament, each school was presented with a certificate thanking them for their participation.

Owen was just 16 when his body was found in a field next to Park Mains High in the early hours of April 30.

Police investigating his death confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

Michael Dewar, headteacher at Park Mains High, said: “Owen’s school friends wanted to do something that would pay tribute to him and this friendly rugby tournament was a fitting way to involve pupils across the area.”
