AN Erskine hairdresser hopes to prove he is a cut above the rest after being named as a finalist in a national competition.

Dylan Brittain and fellow stylist Suzie McGill have been named as finalists in two categories at the British Hairdressing Awards – dubbed the “Oscars” of the UK hairdressing industry.

The competition requires hairdressing professionals and artistic teams from across the country to create a photographic collection, initially of four images that showcase their creativity and technical ability.

The pair work in Glasgow’s Rainbow Room International salon and already hold the title of Scottish Hairdresser of the Year 2016.

And they also hope to hold onto their crown this year after being named as finalists in the same category.

Dylan and Suzie have also been announced as one of the six finalists for the Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year 2017.

Dylan said: “To be a finalist for two categories is an amazing feeling – to be considered among the best in the industry is incredible.

“I hope our next set of images are just as strong and it’s our names that are called out on the night.”

The British Hairdressing Awards take place in London on Monday, November 27.
