AN Erskine artist is calling on the community to help him brighten up a farm play area with a giant mural.

Steve Blackmore has already started on the artwork at Lamont Farm, having painted a striking snail and toadstool onto a wall.

Now the 29-year-old artist, who used to help out at the farm as a kid, has been given the go-ahead to cover all of the walls around the play area.

However, as the cash-strapped farm cannot pay for the materials Steve needs, the dad-of-three is asking local people to dig deep.

He said: “I think it would really help to brighten up the place and give the kids something to enjoy looking at and learning from.

“Hopefully, it would help to attract more people to the farm as well.

“I’ve already painted a snail and a toadstool, so I think I’ll stick with the woodland animals theme.

“It means a lot to me to help the farm out as I used to work there as a kid and I go there with my own family a lot now.

“I’m willing to create the mural free of charge and am hoping the local community can band together to fund the materials.”
