A WOMAN has been hospitalised after she fell ill at the wheel of her car and crashed into another vehicle.

The collision took place today at around 8.20am near the Barholm Roundabout and the Pandamonium Play Centre in Erskine.

She was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

The male driver over the other vehicle is not believed to have been injured in the crash.

A spokeswoman said: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 8.19am on Thursday, November 30 to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"Operations Control immediately mobilised two fire appliances to the incident at the Barholm Roundabout in Erskine.

"One female casualty had exited the vehicles prior to the arrival of crews.

“Firefighters provided reassurance to the casualty before transferring her into the care of the ambulance crew.

“She were thereafter taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further checks.

"Crews ensured the area was made safe before leaving the scene at 8.57am."
