The action-packed day seen every class in the school involved in a number of activities which showed why Barsail fly an impressive four eco-flags.

In order to maintain their staus as an eco-friendly school, Barsail must organise at least one ‘Eco Day of Action’ per year and with the success of this year’s ‘Green Day’ there is no doubt the school will hold firmly on to their title.

The school’s eco group, with the help of teacher Ms Emma Mavers, organised an abundance of green events which included mini beast and scavenger hunts, sunflower planting, a giant community litter pick led by primary fours and fives and energetic workouts involving every class to promote positive health and wellbeing.

Primary seven pupils also aided their primary one ‘buddies’ in making bird cake to attract some wildlife to the grounds. The talented pupils have also invented their own eco-code rap to raise awareness.

Pupils happily ditched their uniforms in a bid to prove their commitment to the eco cause as they adorned their own green get-ups for the day and a select few gave a presentation on the importance of going green and performed the schools unique eco song at assembly.

Teacher and co-organiser of the day, Emma Mavers, said: “It was a great event-filled day where everyone took part and sent out a great eco message as a school community.”
