A TERRIFIED woman was robbed in the street by two men in Johnstone.

The 45-year-old woman was crossing the railway footbridge near Greenend Avenue, when she was approached by the crooks.

One of the men grabbed her handbag and then they both ran away towards Ryefield Avenue.

The incident took place on Monday, September 5 at 11.30pm.

The first man is described as approximately 20 years of age, 5 foot 4, wearing a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

He was also described as slim and had a spotty complexion.

The second man was 6 foot in height and wearing dark hooded top with dark trousers.

Sergeant Manjit Singh of the Community Investigation Unit based at Paisley said: “This was a serious incident and officers are conducting an extensive investigation into the circumstances.

“I am appealing for anyone who lives or was in the area on Monday evening who may have seen these men or noticed any suspicious behaviour to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Community Investigation Unit based at Paisley via 101. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.

“Additional patrols will be in the area to provide reassurance and I would also ask the local community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police.”
