A THUG who attacked a man with a screwdriver during a frenzied assault in Johnstone was yesterday caged for two-and-a-half years.
Raymond Docherty battered John Mochan and stole his mobile phone at a property in the town’s Ferguson Street on February 8 this year.
As he jailed 23-year-old Docherty for the offence, Sheriff Tom McCartney branded him a danger to the public.
Docherty had denied his guilt but was convicted after trial at Paisley Sheriff Court.
Sheriff McCartney told him: “A prison sentence is inevitable in respect of this case.”
Docherty, who showed no emotion as he was jailed, was also placed on a Supervised Release Order, which will see him monitored by social workers for a year once he is freed.
