TRIBUTES have been paid to a Johnstone dad after he lost his brave battle against lung cancer.

Brian Milligan, 43, leaves behind a loving family, including his 15-year-old son William and younger siblings Ann and Graeme.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up by one of Brian’s friends to help the family pay for funeral costs.

After being set up on Sunday, the page reached its £1,000 target within a day.

Brian’s sister Ann has thanked people for their support.

She said: “Growing up, Brian worked at his father’s bakery business in Quarry Street and later became a window cleaner.

“Brian was a very well thought of boy and was involved in an Orange band, where he was able to meet a lot of people.

“He was very proud of his son William, who has been very brave during this difficult time.”

Brian was only diagnosed with lung cancer three months ago. He was undergoing chemotherapy but developed pneumonia and sepsis.

He died in hospital on Saturday and his funeral will take place at St Paul’s Church, in Johnstone, on Tuesday, July 4, before he is laid to rest at Kilbarchan Cemetery.

Ann said: “We are heartbroken. Brian will be greatly missed by his mum, dad, siblings and niece Beth.”
