A RECRUITMENT night will be staged by Johnstone Scout Group next month in a bid to boost numbers.

Anyone who is interested in enjoying some adventure in the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Explorers will be made welcome at the event, which takes place on Monday, August 14.

Parents are asked to pop into the Scout hall in Canal Road, Johnstone, anytime between 6.30pm and 7.30pm to register their child for the year ahead.

All sections will then start back the following week.

Sessions for Beavers, aged six to eight, will take place on Mondays, from 6pm until 7.15pm.

These are followed by sessions for Cubs, aged eight to ten, on Mondays, from 7.30pm until 9pm.

It is the turn of the Scouts, for those aged 10 to 14, to take centre stage on Fridays, from 7pm until 9pm.

And the Explorers, for those aged 14 to 18, also meet on Fridays, from 7pm until 9pm.

Boys and girls are welcome in all sections.

Johnstone Scout Group is also looking for more adults to help out, either as leaders or supporters.

Anyone who has some spare time and is keen to put something back into the community is asked to send an email to johnstonescouts@hotmail.com for further information.

Joanna Byrne, whose daughter is a member of the group, said: “I can highly recommend Johnstone Beavers and Cubs for any local parents who are looking for a club for their kids.

“My daughter loves it and I’m also now volunteering some of my time and expertise as an adult supporter on the group’s management committee.

“Get your name down as soon as possible.”
