FAMILIES flocked to a Johnstone care home on Saturday to join in the fun at its annual summer fete.

A host of activities were organised at Lancefield Care Home, in Rankin Street, to brighten up the day, despite the wet and windy weather outside.

Andrew Ward, activities co-ordinator at Lancefield, said: “There was a lot going on. We had staff member Robert Holt and his son, also Robert, providing the music with their band.

“We also had a tombola, a raffle and stalls selling everything from handbags and toys to jewellery and mugs.

“The barbecue was very popular too and, if people needed a bit of relaxation amid all the fun, we had a massage therapist on hand.

“It was great to see the residents enjoying the day. They loved the music and some were even up dancing. The only thing we had to cancel was the bouncy castle for the kids, as it was too windy.”

Around £700 was raised at the fete, which is just one of several events held throughout the year for the home’s 36 residents.

Andrew said: “Every Monday, residents have a silver service lunch at Mossfield Community Church, in Paisley.

“We also have trips to Blair Drummond Safari Park and to the Seagull Trust at Kirkintilloch, where we have a canal trip and finish up with fish and chips.

“Other events take place throughout the year, including at Christmas. We are also very grateful to Andy’s Golden Fry, in Johnstone, for the support they provide.”
