HEALTH champions have celebrated the launch of a new community group in Johnstone.
Active Communities hosted an open day at their new base in Quarry Street to reach out to prospective members.
The charity delivers programmes across Renfrewshire to inspire people to become more active and change their lives for the better.
Members of the community can get involved in a range of physical activities, including various sports, with support available for everyone, regardless of age or ability.
The Quarry Street base is the second to launch, after the first hub in Blackstoun Road, Paisley. However, the charity runs activities across Renfrewshire.
Susan McDonald, manager at the Quarry Street branch of Active Communities, said: “It was an excellent day and we had hundreds of people in attendance.
“Guests were invited to check out the new premises, have a cuppa and find out what activities and opportunities are on offer.
“As it is a completely new facility, we wanted to find out from the community what kind of activities they would like to see.
“We already have our Tuesday walking group and Feel Good Friday drop-in but are looking to expand on this.
“The group is in need of more volunteers who can help out when they can, whether it is a few hours a week or for special events that we run.”
