CELEBRATE: Pupils from Cochrane Castle and their teachers celebrate the great HMIe report.

A JOHNSTONE school has been heaped with praise by education inspectors.

Cochrane Castle Primary school was commended this week for its partnership with St David"s Primary with whom it shares West Johnstone Campus.

HMI inspectors visited the school in February and identified two examples of good practice to be shared with other schools.

The partnership with St David"s Primary and West Johnstone Learning Centre, which also shares the campus, was highlighted as providing children with opportunities to work with others to understand their local and wider community.

Head teacher Kate Clark said: 'I am delighted that the great teamwork at Cochrane Castle Primary School and our positive partnerships with parents and establishments in West Johnstone Campus has been recognised.

'It is pleasing that the work of our well behaved, motivated, young citizens and highly committed staff has been commended by the HMIe team.'

The school"s partnership with pupils" parents was also praised and the report outlined a number of key strengths including: Highly motivated, well behaved children who are eager to learn, the welcoming ethos, very good relationships and the outstanding commitment of staff to the care and welfare of children, children"s achievements in listening and talking, promotion of children"s health and wellbeing, inclusion of all children in the life of the school and impact of leadership in building teamwork and developing partnerships with other schools and the wider community.

Renfrewshire Council"s director of education said: 'I am delighted that the staff at Cochrane Castle Primary School have continued to build and improve on the school"s good reputation.

'I am confident that teachers and pupils can take pride in their achievements and will continue to pursue improvement.'
