RENFREWSHIRE is in with a chance of a white Christmas thanks to a mobile phone company.
Phone giant Nokia are giving the UK a chance to experience Lapland in their local town and we can reveal two of our towns - Johnstone and Erskine - have been leading the way in the voting.
But to make sure they win the pirze with 'snow bother' readers have to go online to vote so their town can have the perfect Christmas.
The nationwide vote, which finishes on Friday, will see the town with the most votes, in proportion to its population, win the exclusive early Finnish Christmas.
Johnstone was leading the poll but as the Gazette went to press Erskine had taken over and is sitting in the number one spot for Scotland.
The competition is centred around Finnish cuisine prepared by Michelin star chef, Marco Pierre White.
The winning town will be turned into Lapland with masses of snow, a Christmas craft market, Father Christmas, elves, reindeer and a giant Christmas tree.
Food and drink will also be available from the festive menu, designed by Marco himself.
Renfrewshire Council leader, Derek Mackay, is hoping for a Renfrewshire victory.
He said: "It's great news that Johnstone and Erskine are so prominently in the running for this exciting Christmas programme.
"Obviously there will be a lot of competition to win the prize.
"It would be great news if somewhere in Renfrewshire were to be successful."
Fiona Bosman, head of brand engagement at Nokia UK, said: "As part of our Good Things campaign, Nokia is going back to its Finnish roots this year by marrying the best of Finnish Christmas with the very best of UK tradition.
"This is also a great opportunity for a local community to have a meal cooked for them by one of the world's greatest chefs.
"We urge the nation to vote for snow in their neck of the woods."
The UK has been split into five areas and one town from each area will get the Finnish Christmas event.
