A JOHNSTONE mum-to-be admitted attacking a woman with a baseball bat after stepping out of her BMW.
Angela Nash, 25, carried out the shock assault in front of neighbours in Kilbarchan - striking her victim on the head with the weapon.
Witnesses reported seeing Nash stepping out of a silver BMW car armed with the baseball bat and attacking Karrin George on March 15 last year.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard how neighbours were already curious to see what was happening after hearing a commotion in a close at Cunninghame Road in the village.
When they looked out of their windows they saw Ms George going to her car which was parked in the street and Nash arriving in a BMW.
Witnesses said that Nash sat in the car 'staring at her' before getting out.
Ms George had been preparing to set off for work just after 7.30pm and was standing at the boot of her car when Nash, 25, emerged from her car wielding the baseball bat.
She began to shout as she went up to her victim and as words were exchanged Nash struck her on the head with the bat.
Ms George had tried to defend herself in a bid to deflect the blow, but it struck her so hard that she fell to the ground with blood pouring from a head wound.
She was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital and had two stitches to stop the bleeding.
In court, Nash admitted committing the assault as outlined.
Defence agent Jonathan Manson said his client had health problems and was at present four months' pregnant.
Although it is thought she would be able to carry out community service as a direct alternative to custody, she would have to stagger the periods involved over the next 12 months in order to complete the order if imposed.
Nash, formerly of Huntersfield Road, Johnstone, and now of the town's Arran Drive, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service.
