Lauren is a Wipeout wonder
A MAD-CAP Johnstone teen will bounce onto the UK's TV screens this weekend on hit BBC show Total Wipeout.
Zany former Johnstone High school pupil Lauren Fletcher - who works part time in a Teddy Bear factory - flew to Argentina in October to film the special winter edition of the popular game show, which pits contestants against a series of gruelling obstacles for the audience's amusement.
The 19-year-old sports coach spent a week in the South American country, although with plunging winter temperatures, she picked up more bruising than a sun tan as she took on the famous 'big red balls' and the brand new 'Ski Lift'.
The perky teen emerged from thousands of entrants to gain a place on the show - hosted by Richard Hammond and Amanda Byrum - and reckons her bubbly personality coupled with her unusual part-time profession that helped her stand out from the crowd.
Although lone Scottish contestant Lauren is remaining tight-lipped about her performance on Saturday night's show, she says her entirely pink outfit certainly made an impression on the show's producers.
She had to sign a series of disclaimers and life-insurance forms just to make the appearance - but says she never gave it a second thought.
Although she doesn't usually watch Total Wipeout as she works on Saturdays at Braehead Shopping Centre, her parents Garry and Sandra are big fans, and they alongside brother Cole are equally excited about seeing Lauren on TV in front of millions of viewers.
And having not seen Saturday's show, Lauren is most looking forward to hearing what mocking commentator Richard Hammond has to say about her on screen debut.
You can watch Lauren on Winter Wipeout this Saturday, December 17, at 6pm on BBC1.
