Distraught friends and members of the community took to social networking sites to leave their messages of condolence.

Gary Potts posted on Facebook: “RIP Connor, didn’t know you that long mate but for the time I did, great guy and your family, still can’t take it in you’ll be greatly missed until we meet again mate.

“Thinking of yous, Stefan, Sam, Reagan, plus your mum and dad.” Another pal, Sarah Macklin, also posted: “RIP Connor, you were a great guy and such a loving father.

“My thoughts are with your family.” Meanwhile, friend Ryan Woods wrote: “Can’t believe such a tragic thing has happened.

“Thoughts go out to all his family.

“Seeing everything said about Connor just shows how much of a great and genuine guy he was.

“RIP Connor mate.” His devastated pal Craig Wilson also took to the internet to post his tribute.

He said : “I’m shocked and gutted. Feel lost.” Johnstone resident Norma McGowan also commented: “I don’t know the young boy’s family but my heart goes out to them the poor souls especially his poor mum and dad.” Councillor Iain McMillan, who represents the Johnstone South, Howwood and Elderslie areas, also paid tribute to the young dad.

He said: “This is absolutely tragic, a young life gone so quickly.

“I knew Connor and his family and he was a young father and a family man, it’s just awful news.

“Sunday was Mother’s Day and I spent a lot of time over the weekend thinking about Connor and how terrible this must be for the people who were close to him.

“From what I knew he was a decent guy. My thoughts go out to his family.”
