Michael Tupper tortured the three women during a decade long campaign of abuse.

The 29 year-old told one he would abort her unborn child using a coat hanger and attacked another while her baby daughter was nearby.

Tupper – described as a “Jekyll and Hyde” character – returned to the High Court in Glasgow after being convicted of a string of charges including rape and sexual assault.

Judge Lady Scott told him: “These charges show a serious course of conduct against women who were your partners at the time.

“The conduct was manipulative and violent. You clearly posed a danger to women who entered into a relationship with you.” Tupper will also be supervised for a further two years on his release.

The abuse took place between 2004 and 2014 involving three partners.

Prosecutor Mark McGuire told the jury: “Relationships...degenerated due to his possessive and controlling nature.

“They each spoke to him being somewhat of a Jekyll and Hyde character.

“Caring and sweet to begin with – but later more sinister and monstrous.” One young woman – now 22 - suffered at his hands after they began dating in 2013.

She initially described Tupper as “perfect, a brilliant person”, but he quickly changed.

This included claims he once threw her cat out of a window.

The court heard the woman later fell pregnant which enraged Tupper.

In his speech to the jury, Mr McGuire said: “After the first scan, he took the images, burned them and threw the ashes at her.

“He told her that he wanted her to have an abortion and that if she did not, he would do it himself with a coat hanger.” Tupper eventually went on to sexually assault the woman at a flat in Glasgow's east end in January last year.

Two other women by that time had also been the victim of Tupper's violent temper.

The first started dating Tupper when she was 16.

He was described as initially “really nice” - but went on to keep hold of her bank cards and locked her out of the flat.

The court heard he once kneed her in the stomach when she was heavily pregnant.

He eventually went to rape the woman in woods near Johnstone, Renfrewshire despite her protests.

Tupper then later indecently assaulted her while her baby was in a cradle nearby.

The woman – now 27 - told how she believed Tupper was being “sincere” when he claimed the abuse would not happen again.

She said: “I loved him. I thought we would work out.” The other victim started a relationship with Tupper in 2011.

The court heard how Tupper would often “speak down” to the woman and “make her feel small”.

He would also shove her out of their flat in the middle of the night in only her pyjamas.

Tupper raped this woman at a property in Ayr in January 2012.

The jury heard the victim – now aged 21 - only escaped by headbutting Tupper – but she ended up being arrested for assaulting him.

Tupper was finally brought to justice after an incident with the last victim in 2014.

He denied the allegations during the trial, but Mr McGuire said Tupper's word could be considered “worthless” and his credibility “non-existent”.
