The 27-year-old and 29-year-old were attacked in William Street close to High Street by two other men at around 3.15pm on Saturday, August 15.
Both victims were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and were released after treatment.
The incident happened just metres away from where the Johnstone fire engine rally took place that day.
Detective Constable Grant Spy, from Paisley CID, said: “The surrounding area would have been busy at the time of the attack and there was a public event going on nearby at Houston Square.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a disturbance or anything suspicious to get in touch as soon as possible.” Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or alternatively you can call Crimestopper on 0800 555 111.
