MOST teenagers would be in tears at the prospect of having their hair cut off.

But one long-haired Linwood girl is preparing to lop off her lovely locks on the day of her birthday to help children suffering from cancer.

Megan Ferguson will have 12 inches of her pretty hair chopped off to donate to the Little Princess Trust charity.

The 18-year-old explained: “There are children out there who are suffering from cancer, have lost all their hair and wake up every day with a huge grin on their face.

“I’m pretty sure I can wake up with a smile on my face from losing a few inches of my hair — those children are much braver than I am.”

Kind-hearted Megan will undergo the hair-raising experience on her 19th birthday at the Clippens Inn pub in her hometown.

Her hair will be made into a real hair wig for a little girl whose hair has fallen out due to chemotherapy — to make her feel, as the charity’s aptly named, like a princess again.

“I’m very excited about it, I had my hair cut into a pixi style last year and it’s just kept growing since,” Megan enthused.

“I thought I’d be nervous but the fact that it’s for a good cause makes me happy to do it.”

Megan was inspired to cut her hair after her father had his head shaved for charity.

“I told my dad I wanted to get my hair cut short so he suggested I do this for the Little Princess Trust,” Megan continued.

“I started reading up on it and it made me so sad that these children have to go through this, they are so brave.”

The teenager will also be raising money for the Trust through a raffle at the Clippens Inn pub on her birthday.

She hopes to raise as much as possible before the event, being held on January 16.

“I’m not looking to haggle loads of money off people, but even a small donation will help,” Megan continued.

“We’re also looking for local bands to volunteer on the night so if anyone could get in touch it would be amazing.”

The Little Princess Trust charity night will be held at the Clippers Inn pub on January 16, 2016.
