A KIND-HEARTED six-year-old has teamed up with her mum and shed her long locks for charity.

When little Millie Kay heard her mum, Tracy, was donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust she offered to get the chop too.

The charity provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Before having her hair cut Tracy, 36, from Linwood said: “I’m quite nervous because I’ve never had short hair before but Millie can’t wait, she is really excited.

“It’s a big change because Millie is getting her hair cut right up to her chin.

“My pal was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in December, she is my inspiration for doing it.

“She lost her hair through treatment and when you look at wig places they are so expensive.

“For children it’s not even about vanity it’s about other kids and how they treat them.”

The pair have now smashed their target of £350, which is the cost to the charity to purchase one wig, and are delighted to have raised £900.

Both took the brave decision to have their hair cut in front of an audience of more than 30 at Mosswood Care Home, Linwood where Tracy works.

Staff and residents turned out in force to cheer on Tracy and Millie as they had their hair cut by hairdresser Daniel McDonald.

He stepped in at the last minute, to save the day, after the original hairdresser cancelled.

Tracy said: “I wanted to make it really special for Millie because this is a big deal for her doing it at her age.

“The thought of someone having Millie’s hair makes me so proud, it’s great.

“It went really well and we had a great turnout. Both me and Millie love our new hair although I’m still trying to get used to it.”
