ORGANISERS of the Santa Paws Christmas Appeal have sent out a massive thank you to Linwood residents for raising a whopping £4,500.

Support Adoption For Pets launched the nationwide appeal, supported nationally by Pets at Home, to provide valuable financial support to local shelters and raise awareness of homeless animals.

During December animal lovers were asked to donate 50p to pay for a pet’s Christmas dinner.

Customers in store also had the option of buying an extra toy or treat while shopping, which was donated to local animal rescues.

The Linwood Pets at Home store that took part, raised an impressive total of £4,560.88.

Half of which will go to local charity, Scottish SPCA Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Amy Wilson, charity manager at Support Adoption For Pets, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the generous customers and colleagues at Pets at Home in Linwood, without their help we wouldn’t have been able to raise such a fantastic amount."

“The money raised will enable Scottish SPCA Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre to continue the valuable work they do in the area in finding loving homes for pets.

“This year, we’ve been able to raise £764,947 nationwide through our Santa Paws Christmas appeal, allowing us to provide over 1.5 million dinners to animals across the country.”
