POLICE are appealing for witnesses after £1,100 worth of tools were stolen from a garden shed in Linwood.
The outbuilding in the town's Russell Place was targeted between midnight on Monday, February 15 and 8am on Saturday, February 20.
Thieves gained entry by breaking a padlock on the door of the shed.
Inspector Stevie Espie of Johnstone community police is urging members of the public not to leave high value tools in vehicles and sheds.
He said: "We have had a number of high value tools stolen from vehicles and sheds and there is a limit to how secure you can make these.
"If possible it is better to store these items inside a house or a more secure shed.
"It is good practice not to leave tools in vehicles.
"Crime prevention advice can be found on the Police Scotland website."
Anyone with any information regarding the theft in Linwood is asked to contact police by calling 101.
