LINWOOD High pupils have been signing up to vote in the forthcoming Scottish Parliamentary election as part of a registration drive by Renfrewshire’s election team.
All eleven secondary schools in the area are being visited as part of an outreach programme to make sure that 16 and 17 year-old take up their right to vote in May.
Young people must be aged 16 by the registration deadline of April 18.
Only people who are on the electoral register will be able to cast a vote whether in person at polling stations or through a postal ballot.
Pupils had the chance to learn about the election and voting systems and to register to secure their vote.
Pupil Conlen Bradshaw, 17 was among those taking part in the election session.
She said: “Having the right to vote gives young people more of a voice." It’s good to have a say in who runs the country.
“I’ve done some research to help me decide who I am going to vote for.”
