A self-styled anti-sleaze campaigner is probing the expenses of every councillor in Renfrewshire after one prominent figure handed back cash to the public purse.
Tom Gatley, 67 took ex-Renfrewshire Provost Ronnie Burns to the Standards Commission over mistaken car expenses and says he won"t hesitate to expose other elected members if the evidence is there.
A high-level investigation by local authority watchdog, The Standards Commission, showed that the Linwood politician got money he was not entitled to and he paid back over a thousand pounds.
The Commission cleared him of any wrong doing but finance bosses got their knuckles rapped after failing to stop the erroneous payments in the first place.
