A DESPERATE mum has renewed hope for her son’s safe return - six months after he disappeared.
Edward Dallas vanished from his family home in Bridge of Weir Road, Linwood, in March this year and has not been heard from since.
Initial investigations conducted by police focused on the Buddhist community within Scotland, as Edward has attended retreats in the past.
However, this line of enquiry had failed to trace the 38-year-old.
Now his mum Elizbaeth, 63, has been given new hope that her son will be found safe and well after four possible sightings of a man fitting his description were reported in England.
Speaking from her home in Linwood, Elizabeth said: “Some have seen him in a shopping centre in Birmingham and the police have looked at a CCTV picture but it is quite grainy - they couldn’t really make out if it’s him but they want to see what I think.
“People think it is but then its turns out not to be Edward and it someone else.
Johnstone police, who have been liaising with officers in the city, will now visit Elizabeth with the image to see if she can identify him. She added: “The picture is from a few weeks ago in July - they don’t think it is him but if they bring it out, with me being his mum, I might be able to tell.
“At least they are still looking.”
Officers have also told Elizabeth that they believe her son may have been sleeping rough.
Edward knows the Birmingham area well as he worked there a couple of years ago.
Since his disappearance family members have travelled down to the city and put up posters and charity Missing People has also been looking for him.
PC Laura Halliday from Johnstone police station said: “We are continuing extensive enquiries to trace Mr Dallas and would appeal to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts or who has seen Mr Dallas to contact police.
“Please contact Johnstone Police office on 01505 404000.”
When Edward went missing he was described as white, around 5ft 8in tall, stocky build, short dark hair, fair complexion with a dark beard without a moustache.
