If so, the Gazette has just launched a competition to try to find an image that truly captures the spirit of the town.

With Linwood’s exciting new Tesco development soon to be unveiled, we want to celebrate the store’s upcoming opening.

Ahead of its launch later this summer, Tesco Linwood has joined forces with The Gazette to find an old photo of the town to feature on exclusive shopping bags being produced for the occasion.

The images could be anything from the infamous Hilman Imp produced in the town to an iconic building or a well-known event.

We’ve dug this gem out of the archives, which shows a Linwood group having a good old party in true Scots style.

The only brief for the competition is that the photo captures the essence of Linwood and was taken before the 1990s to showcase the old Linwood.

If your photo is selected as the winner, you will receive a £1,000 donation to a local charity or organisation of your choice and the photo will be printed on hessian bags given out at the launch of the store in August.

The winner will also receive a £100 Tesco gift card and will be invited along as a guest at the stores opening celebrations.

So what are you waiting for?

Pick up a copy of The Gazette and send in your entry form and picture by the closing date of Wednesday, July 23.
