The pair, of Kilmartin Road in Linwood, woke up on Saturday morning to discover their vehicles — a BMW and Vauxhall Corsa — had gone missing from outside their home.
Police said this week the cars were taken by a sneak-thief who broke into the house and stole two sets of car keys.
Inspector Gerry McBride, of Johnstone Community Police, issued a warning this week for residents to remain vigilant when locking up their homes.
He said: “There has been a spate of sneak-in thefts in the Linwood area over the past few weeks.
“The thief managed through an insecure door and took two sets of car keys and a handbag which was lying on a worktop.
“Be aware of your environment and always keep your property locked and secure. We have increased patrols in the area following this spate of break-ins.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland by phoning 101.
