FURTHER details have emerged about a terrifying ordeal that saw a woman forcibly dragged from her car in an attempted robbery.

Police are continuing to probe the alarming incident which happened on Tuesday between 5.45pm and 6pm.

A 24 year-old woman got into her Renault Clio which was parked behind Aldi in High Street, Renfrew when a man got into her car and threatened her with a weapon.

The crook tried to make off with the car however he couldn't start it properly and then made a hasty escape.

The woman got out the car and ran into a nearby shop for help and police were called. She was uninjured but badly shaken as a result of the ordeal.

The suspect is described as being aged around 30-40 years, between 5 foot 8 inches in height, of medium build, with short fair receding hair and dressed in casual clothing.

Detectives at Paisley are continuing enquiries and appealing for witnesses  Sergeant Manjit Singh from the Community Investigation Unit at Paisley Police Office said: "Officers are continuing their enquiries to trace the man responsible and we are currently studying CCTV footage to establish more detail on him.

"Officers are carrying out patrols in the area however, I would stress that this is an isolated incident however I would ask that people remain vigilant when entering or leaving their vehicles.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the car park area who witnessed this robbery take place, or anyone who may have seen the suspect acting suspiciously in the local area to contact police through the non-emergency number 101.
