TWO neighbouring Renfrew shops were broken into during an overnight raid - and the thieves are still on the loose.

Bargain Store in Hairst Street was smashed into and hundreds of pounds worth of cash was snatched from the business.

The crook managed to break the bars from the rear window in order to enter the building before making off with the money.

CCTV was also removed from the premises meaning that there is no description of the criminals.

Aulds bakers on the same street was also targeted after the crooks smashed through the back window and gained entry.

The safe was moved inside however, the thieves did not manage to make away with it.

Both incidents happened between Sunday, July 10 at 5.30pm and Monday, July 11 at 9.15am.

Inspector Cassie Glass said: "Both Bargain Store and Aulds the bakers were broken into during the night.

"Bargain Store had the bars from the rear window broken and a three figure sum of cash was taken, along with the CCTV.

"Aulds bakers had the back window smashed and entry gained. The safe was moved within the shop but not out the building.

"We are seeking any information about these break ins. Anyone with more information should contact the police on 101."
