A 29 year-old man required surgery after  he was the victim of an unprovoked attack in Renfrew.

It's understood the victim was near to the Tesco Store in Renfrew when he was set upon by two males.

The incident took place at around 10.40pm on Friday, July 15.

He was taken to hospital with facial injuries, before surgery was carried out.

The only description the police have of the two assailants is that they were dressed in black clothing.
