TWO new music festivals are set to hit Renfrewshire this month with the launch of RevivalFest and Brae to Brae.

Coming on the back of the success of the I Heart Renfrew Christmas festival, Mad Angle Music have approached all the pubs in Renfrew in a bid to put on a summer equivalent.

Bars and pubs across the town will host the RevivalFest events, which will see performers take to the stage from August 19 to 21.

A week later, Johnstone will host it's new festival, Brae to Brae, a two day event starting on Friday, August 26.

Around 30 acts will take part in the three day RevivalFest, taking place in venues including The Victoria Bar, The Columba Club, The Ferry Inn, The Black Bull, Cottons Bar, Pickwicks Bar and the Burns Howff.

Speaking about the events, organiser Drew McCormack of Mad Angle Music said: "What I'm trying in Renfrewshire is new and I don't believe it has been attempted or done before.

"I'm hoping to develop this event over the next few years but I'm delighted to have 14 venues involved over two towns.

"I have just finished my annual three day festival in Prestwick called Prestfest and we have had great success in enlisting support from the local business community who take video adverts to help us pay for bespoke events outwith the licensed premises."

There is no external funding for the event, with the festival being fully paid by sponsorship from The Renfrew Development Trust, Brick Lane Studios Paisley, The Diane Mitchell Music School and The Paisley Music Centre.

The Brae to Brae festival will be opened at The Thorn Inn on Friday, August 26 at 8pm by Hephzibah, Elemental and Marc Evans.

The following day The Globe Bar, Callums Bar and The Wee Café at No.47, 20:10, The Hagg Bar and The Hazel Arms will host acts touring the town playing sets to different audiences.

There will also be an Open Mic at The Wee Café at No.47 hosted by a collection of musicians and singers aged 17 to 55 from Johnstone, Lochwinnoch, Paisley and Glasgow, with performers of all ages welcome to take part.

In the weekdays before each festival, musicians will be on a busking tour of venues to promote the upcoming events.

Full details of all the acts are available on the Mad Angle Music's Facebook page.
