HOOLIGANS went on a rampage in Renfrew, setting residential areas on fire and causing chaos.
Members of the public were left terrified as the group of youths terrorised the streets for three hours.
Bins, sheds and garages set on fire, while windows were smashed in the gang's wake.
The incident took place across various parts of the area near the Normandy Hotel on Monday, August 22 from 1am.
Kirklandneuk Crescent, Porterfield Road and Morriston Crescent were among the streets affected.
Inspector Cassie Glass said: “This is a group of local teens under the age of 16 running amok.
“There was a significant amount of damage but not one was injured.
“Police are making door to door enquiries and looking up CCTV to track down the culprits.
“We are doing everything we can to see that there are no further incidents.
“We have some idea of who was responsible but urge anyone who may have names to come forward.”
