A MAN was left with serious chest injuries after being attacked with a 'sharp object' in Renfrew.

Police are making enquiries after the 29-year-old was assaulted on Friday at around 8.40pm in Glasgow Road.

The man was sitting in a light-coloured car on the westbound carriageway near to the Porcelanosa building when a man got out of a white car behind him and attacked him before driving off.

The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for a serious injury to his chest before being released.

Detective Constable Laura Durnie at Paisley CID said: “We do not believe this was a random attack and believe that the 29-year-old man was specifically targeted by the suspect.

"Never-the-less we cannot tolerate this kind of violence in our streets in Renfrewshire.

“The area of Glasgow Road which is near to the Braehead Shopping Centre would have been busy with people coming to and from the centre and I appeal to anyone who either witnessed this incident or has any other information that could help identify the suspect to contact police."

Anyone who has information should call 101 quoting incident number 4367 of May 19.
