People of all ages gathered at Paisley’s Lagoon Centre at the weekend for a special showcase.

The L&L Love Aid gig was held in memory of Renfrew girl Layla Greene, who lost her battle with a rare form of cancer known as neuroblastoma earlier this year, and in support of Leighanne Sanderson, also from Renfrew, who has a brain tumour.

Nearly 1,000 members of the community congregated for the fundraiser, with all profits being split between neuroblastoma research and Leighanne, who hopes to travel to Germany for further treatment.

Those who attended were also encouraged to donate money to Glasgow Children’s Hospital, which cared for Layla before she died, aged just three.

A host of local dance and music groups joined radio DJ George Bowie and former X Factor contestants Emily Middlemas and The Cutkelvins on the stage.

Emily, who studied at McCallum School of Music in Paisley, performed her charity single ‘Layla’ that she wrote in tribute to the toddler to raise funds for Neuroblastoma UK.

Organisers have since thanked everyone who attended for their support and expressed how overwhelmed they were by the talent on show throughout the day.

With most of the performers on show being made up of groups and individuals from Renfrewshire, some have called the L&L Love Aid gig the biggest showcase of local talent ever to take place.

While a final fundraising total has yet to be announced, donations can be made to help Leighanne at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kathleen-sanderson.
