People are being urged to have their say on plans for new shop units at the intu Braehead retail park.

Bosses at the Renfrew site have said about 60 permanent jobs would be created under the proposals, as well as 80 construction jobs.

A proposal of application notice has been lodged with Renfrewshire Council by intu Braehead.

The plan is to build four units, covering a total of 4,202 square metres of floorspace in the retail park, next to the McDonald’s restaurant.

This is the second application for new units at the site. A previous application had been recommended for approval by planning officials but councillors refused permission.

Peter Beagley, regional centre director at intu Braehead, said the new proposals are in line with the council’s own Local Plan.

He said: “We’ve listened to the concerns with the previous application and believe our new application addresses those concerns. We have made the overall scheme smaller but at the same time managed to increase the size of the smallest unit.”

The consultation will take place in the main concourse at intu Braehead on Friday, 11am-7pm, and Saturday, 10am-2pm.
