Members of Renfrew Burgh Band (RBB) recently celebrated after winning the Scottish Challenge Cup competition in Perth Concert Hall.

Under musical director Mark Good, the band impressed in its performance of Cross Patonce, composed by Goff Richards, giving adjudicators Paul Cosh and John Doyle little choice but to award the band the victory.

The win in Perth rounded off a successful year for the ensemble which has included a busy schedule of concerts, competitions and engagements across the country. Last week, players performed a winter-themed programme to a delighted audience in Neilston Parish Church.

David Hoey, chairman of RBB, said: “Renfrew Burgh Band has been going from strength to strength over the year as its recent victory at the Scottish Challenge Cup shows.

“The band is now more than 100-years-old and continues to serve the people of Renfrew and the local area. We work closely with Renfrewshire Council and local stakeholders to continue to ensure we provide a place for people to enjoy playing in a brass band and for people to enjoy the unique and amazing sound the band makes.

“We look forward to 2015 and to continuing to entertain the people of Renfrewshire.” Anyone looking for more information on Renfrew Burgh Band can log on to its Facebook page or get in touch via the website: http://www.renfrewburghband.co.uk
