AN initiative which encourages youngsters to learn from the written word is set to open a whole new chapter for kids in Kilmacolm.

Bookbug sessions - which have been running for some time in Inverclyde libraries - have been so popular that Saturday events are to be launched from this weekend.

The fun sessions are free events for babies, toddlers and their families to enjoy together.

They feature songs, stories and rhymes, and are a great way to bond as a family and meet other parents and children in the area. The sessions also have lots of additional benefits for children, such as building up their confidence and social skills, and can help with boosting speech and language development.

The sessions will run at Kilmacolm library on Thursdays at 11am. Parents should note that sessions do not take place during school holidays.

For more information about Bookbug, call Rebecca on 712323 or visit www.inverclyde.gov.uk/education-and-learning/libraries/children-young-people/bookbug
