A STAR-STRUCK Bridge of Weir TV fan realised a life-long ambition last week when he walked onto the set of smash-hit soap River City.

Beaming Andrew Macintyre rubbed shoulders with some of his favourite stars when he appeared as an extra in two episodes of the popular BBC show, aired on Tuesday, January 10 and 17.

Andrew, who attends Capability Scotland's West Lane Gardens service in Johnstone, was joined on screen by Support Worker Susan Louden, who works with him at the day service for disabled adults.

As a big fan, Andrew had always wanted to visit the set and asked Susan to help him arrange it. They were both delighted when the River City team said that not only could they visit, they could also have walk on parts.

Andrew told the Gazette: "I really enjoyed the whole day. I liked seeing the places and people that I watch all the time. Everyone was very friendly."

Capability Chief Executive, Dana O'Dwyer, added: "It is great that Capability Scotland has been able to play a role in supporting Andrew to make his TV dream a reality. We are all looking forward to seeing both him and Susan on our screens."
