YOUNGSTERS at ABC Childrminders in Renfrew celebrated the Chinese New Year with a fun filled morning at the Glebe Street Church Hall.

The Chinese New Year of the Dragon started on January 23 and the year will be 4710 on the Chinese Calendar.

Since this is the year of the Dragon the youngsters spent the morning making New Year Cards, Dragon puppets and sheets of the Chinese zodiac so that the children could work out which sign they come under.

The children were able to see a traditional dragon and the staff at the childminders then made a display of lanterns, parasols and fans as well as playing Chinese music.

The day would not have been complete without Chinese food, so the children had noodles, egg fried rice, spring rolls and prawn crackers.
