DELIGHTED Labour duo Jackie Henry and Stuart Clark have welcomed Renfrewshire Council's backing for Labour's plans to build a brand new 18m school for young people with Additional Support Needs. At a full council meeting last Thursday (April 25) councillors voted through the report proposing that the new school would be built at the site of the former St Brendan's High School.
The Education Convener, Councillor Jacqueline Henry and depute Convener Councillor Stuart Clark recently visited the site and have welcomed the backing of all Renfrewshire Councillors for their plans to build the new school.
Councillor Henry said: "I am delighted that councillors from right across the Chamber backed our plans for this new school for young people with significant and complex Additional Support Needs.
"Unanimous backing was also given to the school's proposed location in Linwood. Since this proposal was launched, there has been a very positive reaction." Labour's Depute Education Convener, Councillor Stuart Clark also commented: "As a depute head teacher I know that buildings, facilities and resources can make a big difference to the educational experience for young people. It is exciting to look ahead to the possibilities this new development will offer."
