.The terrifying assault took place in Marshall Lane, near to River Cart Walk in Paisley, at around 5pm on March 28.
The 40-year-old victim was involved in a a brawl with another man, resulting in the him receiving brutal blows to his face.
He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was treated then later released.
The suspect is described as white, 6ft 2β in height and of medium build with dark hair.
He was wearing tan-coloured work boots and a blue fleece top.
Cops are now appealing for witnesses to step forward and report any information on the incident.
Detective Constable James Craig, of Paisley Police Office, said: βThe area around Marshall Lane is very busy, and I would urge anyone who witnessed this assault take place, or has any information that may assist police enquiries to contact Police Scotland on 101.β Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
