POLICE are hunting two brutes who mugged and attacked a group of friends in Paisley.
At around 1am last Thursday (July 17), two men and a woman, all aged 20, were walking on Ferguslie near to Abbey Nursery, when they were confronted by two men.
The thugs threatened them and demanded cash to hand over cash. The 20-year-old male victims attempted to protect their female friend and were assaulted as a result. The woman was uninjured.
The suspects then made off with a watch belonging to one of the male victims.
Paramedics attended and both men were checked over but did not require medical treatment.
Detective Constable Craig Riddell at Paisley CID is appealing for witnesses. He said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack and I am keen to trace those responsible.
“When the men were being assaulted, the woman stopped a passing motorist and asked for help. The suspects ran off and the motorist gave chase before losing them.
“It is believed that two males, possibly aged in their 20s were in the car but at this time, the make and model is unknown.
“I would ask the occupants of the car to come forward. They may have prevented the victims sustaining a more prolonged attack and could have seen something that could assist the investigation.” Anyone who was in the area and has any information is asked to telephone the CID at Paisley on the non emergency number 101.
Alternatively, telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
