And, while the event may be over, the lasting legacy of a fantastic, fun-filled, friendship building two weeks of sporting activities will remain in veteran’s memories for months to come.
A total of 33 medals were given out to the home for veterans in Bishopton. The relay race and bowls were both team sports with the others of weightlifting, netball, cycling and shot putt being individual activities.
The Big Lottery Fund has made the project a reality by awarding Erskine a grant through their Celebrate Programme.
They also donated tickets for a number of events at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games including the Closing Ceremony for Erskine veterans.
