The 55 year-old woman was in New Street, outside Paisley Arts Centre, when she was approached by the brutes who made lewd comments to her before sexually assaulting her.

The victim has been left “badly shaken” by the traumatic incident, cops have said, which happened at around 3.15pm on Wednesday.

Detective Constable Euan Keil of Paisley Police Office said: “The woman was extremely shaken as a result of the incident and at this time officers are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and view CCTV footage, in an effort to gather information on the men responsible.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area of New Street where the incident took place around 3.15pm yesterday afternoon, or anyone who may have seen the woman in High Street a short time later to contact the Police. In particular I would like to trace a man who came to the woman’s aid in High Street. He may well have information that is significant to this investigation."
