On Friday, September 12, the much-loved Scottish presenter was joined by scores of local residents who showed off some of their best Zumba moves as part of a 24-hour fundraising dance session.

Members of the community made their way to the town’s Lagoon Leisure Centre to join Lorraine in the event, which was raising money for the STV appeal charity.

Named Lorraine’s Shimmy Across Scotland challenge, the aim was for the journalist to take part in as many dance and exercise classes she could, accompanied by her Zumba instructor, Maxine Jones.

Lorraine is also a trustee of the STV Appeal and said: “I am always up for taking on a challenge that raises money to help the fight against child poverty.

“It was a brilliant, fun and exhausting 24 hours but worth it to contribute to this year’s STV Appeal.” To support Lorraine’s fundraising challenge and make a donation to the STV Appeal, visit Lorraine’s JustGiving page, or donate by texting on your mobile phone. Simply text MOVE24, leave a space then add the amount you wish to give, and send to 70070. You can make donations of £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 and £10.

The Hunter Foundation has pledged to match up to £100,000 of public donations raised as part of Lorraine’s challenge.
