Scott Wood, who is also a member of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, was performing at the Gleneagles hotel when he spied the Simply The Best singer.

The 20-year-old, who is a member of the Scott Wood Trio, told pals online: “Tina Turner was in the audience at last night’s gig in Gleneagles. It was just simply the best. #worstjokeeva? #obviously.” The Proud Mary legend was staying at the prestigious resort after jetting in from Switzerland where she has lived since her retirement in 2009.

Last year the 74 year old married her longterm boyfriend Erwin Bach there, becoming an official citizen.

Gleneagles Hotel, which will be at the centre of the Ryder Cup celebrations later this month, is currently celebrating its ninetieth year in business with a special exhibition featuring memorabilia, photos and other items linked to the venue’s history.

The exhibition, which is on display until the end of December, includes original doorbells, staff photographs and flip charts for members of the public to look as well as archive photographs and stories about guests including Tina Turner.
